Days 7 and 8

 Day 7

The breakfast of imported Grape Nuts, everyday of the week

The rare sighting of a bird on the shore

The new iguana cages are in place

Blind baby black-tipped shark
They gain sight as they age; these are seen regularly in the shallows in front of LikuLiku

The woman in black on the left is going out for her first snorkel to a place over a reef about a mile offshore, called Pinnacles. It is the best snorkel of the week, massive number of fish and maybe 100 different species. Maybe 3rd best all-time for THB. Doubt she will ever top this experience!
The captain is now wearing a hat given to him to LB; LB was given it by JP...a true hand-me-down

 Day 8

There are no kids at LikuLiku....hmmmmmmmm

All week the service has been erratic. Yesterday THB ordered a Fiji Bitter that never showed up. Toda it arrives 90 seconds after being ordered

Book Review: HMS Surprise, book 3 of the Aubrey/Maturin series by Patrick O'Brian (read by Simon Vance): THB has now listened to books 2-5 in order, not a problem since he has read the entire series many years ago. All very good, and this is one of the best.

Days 5, and 6

Day 5

The scuba boat does a pickup of LikiLiku divers

The boat returns to pickup the dive guide who had stepped off for a short potty break (crew didn't notice she was missing)

The fish below the dock

Mallets

THB prepping mask

DB, THB, JP, LB
plus Ben the guidre (he also took us out numerous times last year)
The view from  the restaurant

Book Review:

The Silence Of The Girls, Pat Barker (novel read by Kristen Atherton - 85 % - and Michael Fox - 15%): Barker is most famous for her WWI trilogy focusing on how psychiatry learned about PTSD. This book focussed on Achilles and Patroclus in the last year of the Trojan War as told by the young woman (daughter of a king)  “given” to Achilles as a prize for his part in destroying her city. Brielis becomes his slave, used for sex and anything else he desires. She is befriended by Achilles best friend, Patroclus and the reader gains insight to the role of women slaves. Recommended

Day 6

Two birds on a window

LikuLiku "apple pie" with smoked maple ice cream
THB, DB and LB are going "island hopping" this morning, departing at 7am (JP is skipping this excursion)
Three of us get a look at many local islands and a bit of history of some of them

The placeholder for pics of one of the main islands where Survivor is filmed...see why below

The rest of the islands

The island where Cast Away was filmed; will be closed in a few days for months as Survivor will be filming here also
The first of two snorkels, this one right off Castaway Island, followed by a light breakfast of pastries, fruit, and coffee served cold with milk (a "light white")

LB rides shotgun and DB is the rearview mirror, both performing islandspotting

Survivor secrecy censor board; Our boat is intercepted a number of islands later and a two-man crew pulls alongside and this guy looks at the pics on THB's phone and asks us to delete 28 pics. LB does the deed while he watches, into the Trash they go (only to be still on the I-phone!!)
The boarding vessel; the guy in the boat is our guide Ben's bro-in-law (married to a sis of Ben's)

There are not many seabirds spotted on these islands, there is one bottom left of center

THB, DB and LB have a late breakfast. Then THB and DB watch a DVD of Cast Away staring Tom Hanks, Wilson, and Helen Hunt. Only reco'd if you are interested in the filming done on Castaway Island
