Day 7: Türkiye Bodrum

 Day 7: Bodrum

Weather: Borderline cool, cold when returning to Star Legend mid-afternoon

Activities: Cooking class, then we decide to stay in for rest of day, skipping dinner (DB does a second workout of the day!)

Department of Connectivity: No internet, Starlink is spotty in Turkey

The Star Legend pulls into Turkey, ports in Bodrum, and THB is offline for a day. Gosh, that felt good. Very so last century. No breaking news, no breaking anything. THB and DB add another country to our list.

We four -  SA, DA, DB and THB - are half of a 6+ hour food adventure excursion, $250pp (US $).

Asli Mutlu is our primary guide: chef and co-owner of the Karnas restaurant and winery. Note: DB is holding two tins of olive oil and there are two bottles of Syrah hiding off-stage. We are about 1/2 hour outside of Bodrum.

docking at pier
first stop: small farmers market (artichoke hearts bathing in lemon water)

phyllo dough "crepes"
hot and terrific
"outdoor" dogs, no owners
wood burning stove (there is a propane one nearby)

prep table
SA and DB modeling our aprons

THB's seat warmer

white zin, golden olive oil in goblet on right
syrah
dumplings filled with meat mixture (did THB make these beauties?), baked and then simmered in broth, served over seasoned yogurt ... unbelievable good
Asli also hosts zoom classes; book  cover painted by Asli's recently deceased, widely acclaimed husband
