Before leaving for Switzerland and Prague, THB and DB managed to squeeze in a wedding.
The highlights:
Our very nice room at Gaige House, Glen Ellen
There's a small "courtyard" between the bathroom and bedroom |
We take in the highlights of Healdsburg before the wedding:
The Shed, a combo market, bistro, and restaurant with scattered exotic food-related and gardening items for sale |
What THB bought |
Closed...permanently? An omen? |
THB and DB have her work at the beach |
A version of our piece (this one is smaller in size and total pieces) |
Our lunch spot with S&J (a fortuitous meet-up): lots of small, shared plates. Very good!
The wedding at Relais du Soleil (THB and DB have been here before on an Oakland Museum day trip):
The groom and huppah holders + rabbi, awaiting the bride |
THB loved the non-traditional dress! |
Even more participants have squeezed under the huppah |
Her family |
Bride, groom and bride's brother (THB has known two of the three since they were infants); the bride is the author of The Defiant, a Young Adult book, and THB recommends it even if you are not a YA |
His family |
The wedding couple's table (note the most important part of the setting, on the right) |
Taken in bright sun; by the time we ate around 6:15, the temp was just right |
We're friends of the bride's parents |
The wedding food is excellent. No surprise: the groom owns Wise Sons deli in the Mission (highly recommended) |
Not on the seating list for our table, he dines with us anyway |
DB with the proud father, MQ, a friend for a lifetime: their parents lived across the street from each other when they were babies, then relo'd within a few blocks of each other in WLA (MQ is also THB's bridge partner of many years) |
Three languages and pictures...in a port-a-loo! |
