salesforce transit center and park opens In downtown SF

Hello Sports Fans:

Twins/cousins in the park
R (our guide), C and DB and a gigantic phallic symbol in the back

For many a year THB and DB commuted to the city from Oakland via AC buses (usually on the B line). After our jobs shifted out of the city, most all of our city visits have been by car or BART.

THB and DB decide almost spur of the moment to take in the new just opened urban park on top of the redone AC Transit bus center with R&C. R had visited the park yesterday, so he now qualifies as our official guide. After our tour we dine in the restaurant in the upscale Sheraton Palace, a landmark in the city for what seems like over 100 years.

There's not really a lot of text to share, so here goes with the pics:

Bus stop is 1 block from loft and bus is right on time

no marker that this is also an AC Transit stop

Standing room only, including THB (there are only two more stops before bus heads to SF); it's $4.50 each way (about $1.20 more than BART) and THB's Clipper Card works on both

50 riders (10 standing); 4 reading real books, 1 e-reading device (other than phones); 49 have their smart phones; 1 without a phone of any kind

These "dots" on the floor are really small

Shots of salesforce park (in lower case and an italic "f"!):

R's employer for many years is only a block away; kids rope course in foreground

Say what?

There are signs of uncompleted work

Fortunately we just missed Cardio Dance

You got to snuggle to share these benches; designed to keep napping to those sitting upright

Large "game" area

A number of real books, fiction and non-fiction, plus some picture books

Okay, so THB is wondering who reads a book a few pages at a time and then hopes the book will actually be there every day for  50-100 days?

Lots of mature trees and plants in the park

Benches with metal separators to keep napping to just those sitting upright

The odd shots:

Some of the local businesses are advertising at elevated park level; THB has no idea what trulia is (or how to replicate that symbol in front of the name)

The entrance/exit for the buses: for some reason the buses have to cross over when coming and going so a flag man is out there directing traffic

No idea

No idea

Can take a guess

Either cleaning the glass, testing for leaks, or just talking on his phone while pretending to work
Yes, soon you can skip the escalators and elevators and take a "still under construction" gondola to the park

In the cloud in the e-world and the real world

Brunch:

DB gets the full breakfast

And DB shares bacon and potatoes to supplement THB's soft scrambled eggs with cheese and tomatoes; C&R get the same pairing, $70/couple
