Day 18: Bali

Day 18:   Bali

DB enjoys the burger and fries, that is not lemonade in her glass

Quote of the Day:

Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, mm yeah

But what's puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, mm mean it, get down

Oh yeah, get on down
Oh yeah

Weather: Scorching

Spent the entire day within 100 meters of our room. THB actually did a visit to the fitness center, did his 7 minute workout and 6 minutes on the elliptical. It was in minute 5 on the elliptical that THB realized they a/c was off. OMG: there was a real risk of passing out. The inner THB voice sez: take a few deep breaths and put your hands down and slowly walk away from the machine.

Only two people have signed in to FC during the last 6 months. Plus, there are no pens or pencils to sign in with.

It's nicely appointed, perfect for one person

Many dips in our private pool. Very few are using the infinity pool, it is so hot in this area even the shade appears to be in the 100s. Of course, it could be because the private pools are so inviting and/or the resort is very empty (THB guesses the latter mostly and for all the honeymooners the former).

Lychee from the "nut"

Snake skin fruit

Breakfast and lunch at Rocka. We were unable to get lemonade at lunch though our waitress said yes, we could (there was a lemon ice tea on the menu). When at long last (20-25 minutes), after numerous visits by various people all the way up to the manager of the restaurant, it turns out you cannot get lemonade. Otherwise, breakfast and lunch we’re fine. The hotel comped us for lunch. The funny thing: if they had wanted to, they could have made us lemonade in a lot less time than it took them to decide they didn’t have it.

Pics from around property; there are many different types of butterflies around, moving way too fast for THB to get pics. One was large, black with blue phosphorescence wings, very unusual for those of us not in tropics

That's the Indian Ocean in the background

Free ice cream after lunch (excellent), a few purchases at the boutique, a bit of watching hang gliders watch us watching them, and sunset watching on the bar while enjoying gazpacho, shrimp with noodles, a rocket salad, and 3 G&Ts (around $100).

Lunch

Dessert was melting fast

A word about alcohol: As CYS says, she likes her drinks alcohol forward. In Singapore and Indonesia that is near impossible. Even on the Aqua Blu it wasn’t easy. Alcohol (in a Muslim-forward country) must be one of those things that drinkers know that when you order out you are going to get mostly mixer or a tablespoon of your pleasure. And those that know are drinking at home and buying duty free alcohol.

Pics from the bar; we have a great table for drinks and pupus at sunset. Actually, only 5 or 6 couples show up, maybe the rest of the guests are on the expensive sunset cruise.

A long way from Houston

THB orders the G&T of the day and realizes he has also been calling Six Senses 6th Senses for quite a while

To get any sense of alcohol, DB orders a 2nd shot; THB is pretty sure his 2nd shot would be the first in the "gin infused" drink; THB thinks they confused with "infused" with "refused"
