The Emery progress, mini-trips, pics, pics and more pics

On top of the mountain (well, not quite, THB is taking liberties, we are well short of the top...we're not even at the top of the gondola ride)

Runners-up for Pic of the Month Award

This submersible fits 7 uncomfortably. Rides are on first come, first served basis, and costs only $25/pp,  less if you want to be full submerged.
The captain is handling the controls (from the shoreline)

the lefty is way better at skipping rocks than the two righties, and the row boat is safe

Monterey Dunes beach update: pics by LB

Jelly fish minus tentacles
the giant barrel/tank washed up is now covered with graffiti etched into the rust; THB is consulting with LB on how to turn this thing into a money-making submergible
THB takes a break to watch TV on the beach, the signal sucks
Blue Jellies washed up in the thousands
Blue Jellies when dried out are puplish

The Emery  progress: the apartment buildings are mostly done, work continues apace for the landscaping and the park

No idea...who is EVA?
One of the big "gets" was the agreement with the developers to build a ped/bike path through the old Shirwin-Williams office building. It opened this week (June 21) and then closed up the next day
Sandy has to  learn a new command: SHARE, SANDY!

Half court hoop is up!
Mini Parkour along the tracks

Above: a people mover

And across the tracks:
big chair repair
and work on building a new market

THB and LB go to Oracle Park: THB's first (of not many) baseball games of 2023, going with LB via the ferry from Jack London Square

view from the ferry

It's Dog Day to see the Cubbies play the Giants

Lumpia, unique beers, crackernuts
Even in jumbo size THB can't read the scoreboard and for the first time in many a year THB does not score the game. Park is almost full by game time. Attendance (not counting dogs): 36,236 (avg = 29,000)

THB and LB go to Oakland Coliseum for Father's Day (and Hawaiian shirt giveaway):

Attendance): 24,236 (avg = 9,292, last among all MLB teams)

We arrive too late, they've run out of shirts. Such a shame, Favorite crowd chant: Sell The A's.

DB and THB visit her sister and hubby in LA and make a side-trip to see the new Orange County Museum of Art. Anton Segerstrom is the ffinancial engine behind the museum.

THB and DB go to Crissy Fields and Greens: Sandy wass so well behaved on- and off-leash  she was invited to be in the wedding pics. She politely declined.

Picturesque spots near Monterey Dunes

Lovers Point, Pacific Grove, there are people in the water

View from the newly opened Woodward's Market Cafe in the Moss Landing harbor, great look at the power plant. Food and breski choice also quite good (better than the view)

THB and DB stop off at the Crocker Museum in Sacramento on the way to two nights a South Lake Tahoe with the Martins

a great show of work by this couple (amd partners) of Bay Area artists

these are Wonner's and Brown's photograhs installed on the doors into the gallery dedicated to their work; THB and DB were in Berlin many years ago when we saw a group show and just outside the gallery were pictures of the artists: VERY EFFECTIVE

Blooms aroundd Lake Tahoe:

Lupin is everywhere

we only saw thse pretty bloomers once
two  varieties of lupin growing side-by-side!

these cocoons fall off, turn into catapillars, then the caterpillars turn into butterflies
we spot the lost red scarf about 20 yards off the trail

and then see some even closer to the trail

Miscellani:

Sandy does her imitation of a giraffe drinking from a stream

and has not quite got the hang of using her bed at the beach
