Day 6: NYC to Richmond

Errata: Breakfast at Sarabeths (pancakes, yogurt, 1 coffee, sdide of yogurt) was "only" $70, not $80 as previously posted

Pic from Monterey Weekly, it is already Snowy Plover breeding season at beach

Highlights: It was your basic normal travel day. THB and DB made it from NYC to Richmond on time, our room was ready at Quirk Hotel, EW and JW arrived a bit later, we went to dinner at the Tobacco Company about a mile away, got a great night's sleep and are now on Day 1 of the NCECA Collectors Tour.

Not exactly:  The NYC half-marathon shut down most of the area around the Mandarin Hotel. The cab ride to the LaGuardia airport took twice to three times the time/distance than a normal mid-day Sunday.

The Delta terminal seems brand new, and they are trying out new equipment and getting checked-in took about 1/2 hour (don't ask), TSA-pre took maybe 20 minutes (with no line to speak of), we were the first people on the small commuter plane which meant we got to wedge our carry-ons into the overheads (just barely), the UBER to the hotel was relatively brief and the driver had the heat on rather than the air, it was about 70 outside (20 degrees warmer than forecasted), our room(s)  is mondo-bizarro (minimalism meets dysfunction), and THB's photos were pretty much impossible to download and make sense of (well, those that actually downloaded).

Just your average travel day!

new X-ray at TSA...this story takes too long to relate

Solar Farm
well-marked, airport is so small and un-trafficked that it stands ou
The Quirk Hotel is very quirky, another long story goes unrelated
Master bedroom, sparse
elevator...pink is the hotel theme color

Tobacco Company. THB has a great NY Strip steak, the others order appetizers for dinner

arugula salad
the faucets are set to the side, unless you turn on the water with force, the water drips onto the surface rather than the bowl; only two hooks for towels, both in the back of the shower (which is huge and very nice)
