Day 5: Porland, Day 1: Bay Bridge

Day 5: Portland to E-ville

QOTD:  Hey, we’re gonna get a great view of the bridge

Pics: Rotating bike sculpture, Blue Star Donuts, triple utility box pole (and you thought THB wasn’t going to post a utility box pic?), more BS Donuts, unusual bike, D&S, THE BAY BRIDGE hours before re-opening, the new BART extension years before opening at Oakland Airport, Rudy’s Can’t Fail

Weather:  Pleasant, light clouds, probably 70s

DB does the coffee run, no NYT today, toast and peach (from farmer’s market, excellent). We leave at 7:30 for a walk up towards PSU and the foothills above town, meeting S&D at Blue Star for donuts. Donuts? Yep, and worth an hour walk: beignet and chocolate (soft) topped ganache (or something fancy like that, around $2.50 each (S&D walk over from The Louisa, meet us and treat).

Back to The Louisa to pack and ease our way into lunch along with more chit-chat and golf on the tellie, tuna from Whole Foods along with sushi and salmon, and a bit of the A’s game.

Two hour flight back to Oakland with a great pass over the last hours of the Bay Bridge before it reopens with a new east span.

Dinner at Rudy’s Can’t Fail: BLAT with egg over hard, taco salad without the shell, wine and iced tea, $38.
