Sandy's younger brother is on the dock to greet us...not quite as much apricot, otherwise identical. This is a 4 month old
Day 15: Safari Explorer to Juneau
to Anchorage
Weather Report: Foggy, overcast, pleasant, temps in the low 60s
Quote of the Day: Are these mostly tourists?
It’s a Covid world: The elevator to the 11th floor is full, THB is the only one wearing a mask
The dock is set up to adjust to the tides, which are severe here in Juneau
Gorgeous at around 8:45
Alaska State Museum is excellent, worth a detour (if you're already in Juneau)
Inspired W Allen in Sleeper
The Red Dog Saloon has been here for over 30 years. Empty at 10:15am
Finally a utility box worthy of a pic
Turn your screen on its side, this is the gondola going up the hill in a deep fog
Without the big cruise ships this spot doesn't open until 2pm
THB and DB's tower at the Captains Cook Hotel. Probably owned by one of the cruise lines
THB and DB dine al fresco. Nobody here is wearing masks, nor are they required to
First course
Second course: 1 lb of Alaska King Crab, which includes the shell. More like lobster in taste than Dungeness crab and more like 4/10 of a pound of meat. With fries and asparagi this is a $60 plate. With dozen oysters, a brewski and 2 glasses of mediocre CA sauvignon blanc, with tip $145. THB knows a tourist spot when he sees the bill.
