Alaska Day 5: Denali NP

Alaska Day 5: Denali NP

Weather: A bit overcast and misty, clearing up to overcast and clouds over the mountains and thus no view of Denali mountain peak.

Quote of the day: This is one of the last true wildernesses left...Please come back. Hmmmm....

Quote two of the day: 90 % of the bus ride is to get to mile 62, near the end of the gravel road, around 4 hours) . The last 10% of the ride takes the other 90% of the ride (translation: it is a one way ride up and the same road on the way back, which is when most of the riders takes nap)

Bureau of Investigations: There is a new theory as to how THB's computer went wacko. When the bag didn't fit in the overhead, THB had to "gater" check it. Which means somebody got ahold of it at the end of the jetway and possibly threw it around. The pc was in the outer compartment, so it is possible that it was roughly handled.

It's a Covid World: the pics are again in reverse order

Today is a travel day for the most part:: eight hours up and back on the one road through the Park on a converted school bus. We see some wildlife, not a lot. We see some wildflowers, not too many.

An early dinner, THB and DB share fish and chips and brisket plate

Caribou

The NP visitors centers are closed this year. THB is able to buy a sticker and get a stamp at the "book" store stop about halfway to the end of the road

DB goes full antler

The book store, only open at far left, visitors aren't allowed inside

Our fancy lunch bag

Bear

Share the road!

Scott, our tour driver/guide. He is the one of many begging us to come back to Alaska before we've left and the only one saying how great the wilderness of Denali NP is

Scott has his camera hooked up to the drop down screens in the bus

This is what a full grown moose looks like on the screen

And this is what the moose looks like when THB takes the pic

The rest stops have great toilet facilities; there are usually 3 or 4 of these  4 room versions
