THB and DB purchase two pieces today
Laura Dirksen: Edgar Surprise Lux Tempo
Chase Travaille: Shard Amphora No 8 (made from shards at Archie Bray)
Breakfast from Starbucks, consumed in room, $14
First stop: FE Gallery
Takuro Shibata
Another first for THB: there are QR codes on the attribution card and THB gives it a try
Back to "regular" pics
The tour heads back to college
On campus
Weather: cool in morning, warming up during day to high 60s
THB and DB met Scott at the TR Il Fornaio party. He lives on big property on Cobb (about 2 hours drive north / west from Sac State), runs a ceramics studio/kiln/residency and teaches 2 days a week
Examples of Scott's work, pressing clay into wood and removing wood
Another Sac State gallery
Jack Ogden, this painting is more like Bomb Squad
This is unique: an Arneson without Arneson
Early Bob Brady
Clayton Bailey (RR and AR now have Clayton's work)
The best show of the week!
THB and DB bought this piece
Nick Kabalas: Dick Bush
Noah Green (ceramic?)
Laura Jenels
THB is having a hard time connecting with Kate so cannot complete purchase (not handled by the NCECA staff at the gallery show)
DB gets a cup of tea at student coffee place
Patty and Andre are the curators of the student show, top quality. All done over Zoom and they live near each other in LA.
Another great show!
Lauren Mabry. THB and DB own two pieces (one a large, heavy sewer pipe) and think the new work is a bit overwrought (a long word for goopy)
Catered lunch for St Patty's day
Shoojin Choi
Lauren Kalman: another ceramics biter!
Brooke Cashion
House of Sharon and Paul Dauer Collection: a gorgeous collection of ceramics. Overall, the house is "quiet," especially when compared to the funk movement places we've seen
Goro
Masamichi
Early Bob Brady
Annabeth Rosen
Unusual Jun Kaneko: double plates
All chickens, all the time. Small show at the Hyatt Regency
Dinner in the room with EW and JW: flat breads, black bean hummus and veggies/chips from room service ($60) and our guests supply white wine and even clear the plates!
