THB’s Toast at the
Wedding
First, Donna and I want to thank all of you for joining us
tonight. It was quite a ceremony!
Second, I’d like to tell a mostly true story…followed by TWO
observations.
A few years ago, after dinner in parking lot of a Mexican restaurant up the road, I get this
bizarre sensation, almost overwhelming
No reaction…maybe I didn’t say anything out loud!
In the car, I say: We’re blessed…Oh?
YES!
we have:
- two independent and feisty parents,
- good relationships with our siblings,
- lots of longtime friends AND even some new friends
- we’re getting along with the girls
- damn, even the girls are getting along
- retirement is terrific
- we’re traveling a ton
- we moved from a big house to 1 room loft and we’re still getting along
- and, Katie has found a guy who is gentle, considerate, cheers her up, plays a good game of mah jongg (not too good), has a big truck to help haul our stuff, and provides us with in-house tech support
We’re blessed!
And now, the only thing that has changed since then: Eric is
officially part of the family!
Observation #1…Katie: if Eric gets an odd look on his face
as you are walking to your car after a dinner out, don’t assume it is something
he ate
Observation #2…Eric: Do NOT wait 40 something years to tell Katie
you are blessed, in fact start NOW!
(Raise glass): To Katie and Eric!
Congrats! Katie and Eric!
